RxNav (RxNorm Drug Names API)

Returns RxNorm concepts that have a specified term type (TTY). Supports both XML and JSON output formats.

Gets the names used by RxNav for auto completion. This is a large list which includes names of ingredients, precise ingredients, brands, and synonyms of branded packs.

Retrieve drug products associated with a specified name such as ingredient, brand name, clinical dose form, branded dose form, clinical drug component, or branded drug component.

Retrieve active National Drug Codes (NDCs) associated with a given RxNorm concept (RxCUI). Only NDCs curated by RxNorm (SAB=RXNORM) and currently active are returned, in CMS 11-digit format.

Return the property categories available in the Prescribable RxNorm API.

Retrieve RxNorm concepts of specified term types (TTY) that are directly or indirectly related to a given RxNorm concept (RxCUI), excluding reformulation and quantified form relationships.

Get the relationship names in the RxNorm data set.

Get the properties of the RxNorm concept identified by rxcui, including concept name, TTY, synonym, language, suppress status, and UMLS CUI.

Return the name of the concept identified by the rxcui parameter. Scope: Active concepts in the current RxNorm data set that have an atom with SAB=RXNORM and SUPPRESS=N

Get the vocabulary source abbreviations (SABs) from the Prescribable RxNorm API.

Get concept term types in the RxNorm data set. Synonym term types such as TMSY, PSN or SY are not included.

Get concept identifier types that may be used with findRxcuiById.

Returns a list of property names available in the Prescribable RxNorm API.

Returns the definition of RxNav's related-concepts graph, showing paths from one term type (TTY) to another through intermediate hops. Paths can be filtered by starting or ending TTY.

Searches for an identifier (id parameter) from an RxNorm vocabulary or attribute indicated by idtype. Returns the RxCUIs of concepts associated with that identifier. The scope of the search is either Active concepts (allsrc=0) or Current concepts (allsrc=1). Results in JSON format.

Get the properties of the RxNorm concept identified by rxcui. The response has no properties element if the RxCUI is not in the active data set.

Searches for a drug by name (from any vocabulary in RxNorm) and returns associated RxNorm Concept IDs (RxCUIs). Supports exact, normalized, or approximate matching with optional filtering by source vocabularies.

Searches for an identifier (id parameter) from an RxNorm vocabulary or attribute indicated by idtype. Returns the RxCUIs of concepts associated with that identifier. The scope of the search is either Active concepts (allsrc=0) or Current concepts (allsrc=1). Results in XML format.

Gets pairs of active RxNorm concepts related by "reformulation_of" in JSON format.

getRelaPaths returns the definition of RxNav's related-concepts graph. For example, an SCD's related PINs are found by following RxNorm's relationship from SCD to SCDC, then a second relationship, from SCDC to PIN. The two hops are represented as the "path" SCD, SCDC, PIN. The paths can be filtered by the starting or terminal term type. Scope: Active concepts in the current RxNorm data set that have an atom with SAB=RXNORM and SUPPRESS=N
